Virtual Architecture Merit Badge

What: Scouts working on the Architecture merit badge learn about how the design of buildings impacts their use and the environment. They also explore careers related to architecture.

Meet your Counselor - Sherry McTigue is a Registered Architect at studio2sustain inc Architects in New Bedford, MA. Sherry received her Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. She has served on the City of New Bedford Zoning Board of Appeals, worked as the Campaign Coordinator for the Community Preservation Act for New Bedford, and has 11 years of experience in design. She enjoys the challenges of restoring historic buildings that are healthy for the planet, and future generations. Sherry lives in New Bedford, Mass with her husband and two sons. She loves the beauty and history of the South Coast area (sea breeze, farms, and historic architecture!). Sherry enjoys travels with her family, trail running, and of course being a Cub Scout Mom!

WHO: Open to all Scouts BSA members.

HOW:  This Merit Badge will be taught in a virtual classroom. The class has a capacity of 10 Scouts. Small classroom size provides all students with the opportunity to share and interact with the counselors and other Scouts. Scouts should be prepared to be challenged and to join the conversation! Participants who do not engage with the class may not receive credit for the badge. Scouts must be prompt for all badge sessions. Late participants may not receive credit for all requirements. Scouts must use a device with video to access this class.

Before beginning work on any merit badge, scouts are to have a discussion with their unit leader regarding the specific badge and counselor.

WHEN: This class will be held virtually over three sessions:

August 11, 2020 7:00PM-8:30PM EST.

August 13, 2020 7:00PM-8:30PM EST.

August 18, 2020 7:00PM-:8:30PM EST.

Scouts must attend all three sessions to complete the offered requirements.

After registering, Scouts will receive a link and login information via email the day of scheduled class. Scouts will also receive instructor details that can be used to connect to the counselor on Scoutbook. This assures that completed requirements are easily recorded.
