Cachalot Scout Reservation 

Sprawling across 880 acres nestled in the Myles Standish State Forest, Cachalot Scout Reservation is an outdoorsman's wonderland! there are an abundance of hiking as well as biking trails throughout the camp. Cachalot offers a beautiful waterfront on the crystal clear Five Mile Pond for boating and fishing activities.

General Information

Parking: Please park your vehicles in either parking area.

Campmasters: Upon arrival at Camp please check in with the Campmasters. The Campmaster Office is located just beyond the gate at Boat House field.

Tour Permits:  Out-of-Council Units MUST provide an approved Local Tour Permit from their Council.

Firewood: Firewood is available and can be found between the parking areas on the covered racks.

Blue Heron Hollow

Capacity:10 Tents

Other information: Located by the waterfront on the shores of Five-Mile Pond. Has an upper and lower area.

Abner's Pond (Outpost)

This is a low-impact site.

Absolutely no vehicle access is allowed.

Other Information: Can camp right on the beach. Bear Bag cable near site. Fire Pit in site. 

Baden-Powell

Capacity: 7 Adirondacks - 1 holds 6, 6  hold 4

Cabin 1 & Cabin 2

Camporee Road

Dan Beard

This is a low-impact site.

Other Information: Secluded site. Located on the Camp's bike trail which leads to the State Forest's network of bike paths.

Noquochoke Training Center

Capacity: 40 seated
Cost: $100 per day
Water available: flush toilets year round located in the building
Kitchen: kitchenette: 3 pot sink, coffee makers, and refrigerator,-large doors open to utilize the Tulpe Pavilion for more space or eating area
-there is also a separate large food prep/grilling pavilion right next to the Tulpe Pavilion. (no charge but requires reservation) 

Magee Village

Capacity: 7 Cabins of 8 bunks and 1 (ADA accessible) with 4
Cost: $65 per cabin in-council/ $100 out-of-council

Cub Hill

Other Information: Area divided into "upper" and lower" sites. Two outhouses and separate tent areas make it ideal for co-ed groups. Overlooks Five-Mile Pond. Adjacent to the Mountain Bike trail which has access to the State Forests' network of bike trails.

James West

Tulpe Grill Pavilion

For cooking only

Cost: no cost but reservation is recommended
Kitchen: two large charcoal grills, two stainless prep tables, water, two long serving tables under a newly built pavilion.

Other Information: typically used for large group picnics with the Tulpe Pavilon (separate reservation) or as a convenient place to cook for the White Pine Grove tent site or The Magee Cabins that sleep 60.

Health Lodge

Capacity: sleeps 7,

Sippican

Noquochoke Tent Site

Capacity: 20 tents

Agawam

Capacity: 20 tents
Water available: water and flush toilets seasonally
Parking: 3/4 mile

Canoe Rentals 

Canoe rentals are offered at Camp Aquapaug and Cachalot during most of the year. Canoes, paddles, PFDs and a trailer are provided.  The Camp Ranger will notify you of local conditions and all rentals are at the discretion of the Ranger. Canoes are now rented by the "rack" - that is 6 canoes with trailer and equipment - rather than individually. Rental term is per weekned. There is a flat fee of $100 per "rack". Additional paddles and PFDs are available for a small fee. Reserve your canoes under the listings for Cachalot or Aquapaug for the weekend you want.

Row Boat/Kayak Rental:

Row boat and kayak rentals are available on a first come first serve basis. Check with campmaster for availability when arrive at camp.

Brightly lit field for night activities (upon request).

Cycling in the state forest

Cycling in the State Forest is not allowed during hunting season. Currently it is posted that all trails in the State Forest are closed Saturdays and Holidays as well as November 28 - December 10. Please contact the State Forest for more information

Getting to Cachalot

Cachalot is located in the Myles Standish State Forest, Plymouth, MA

If coming from Boston/Plymouth direction use the MSSF (Myles Standish State Forest) East entrance off Long pond road and follow the MSSF signs for CAMP CACHALOT.

If coming from Fall River/Carver direction use the Cranberry Road entrance and follow the MSSF signs for CAMP CACHALOT. 

Please note: GPS is highly unreliable in the State Forest and you should always stay on approved roadways.
